Trinamool Alleges Bulk Voter Form Deliveries from BJP-Ruled States, ECI Orders Probe
Trinamool Congress accuses BJP of delivering bulk Form 6 voter applications from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in West Bengal, alleging vote theft and demographic change. Election Commission orders probe as officials confirm submissions and ongoing verification checks.
Trinamool Congress leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleged that thousands of Form 6 applications—meant to add new voters—were delivered in bulk from BJP-ruled states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. According to the party, these submissions bypassed standard booth-level checks, a procedural safeguard designed to ensure authenticity and transparency in voter enrollment.
Escalating the matter, the leaders formally wrote to the Election Commission, demanding immediate scrutiny of the submissions. They described the incident as “vote theft” and warned of an attempt at demographic change. Visual evidence further intensified the controversy, as videos surfaced showing stacks of forms inside the office, suggesting the scale and organized nature of the deliveries.
Responding to the allegations, Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal confirmed that the submissions had been received. However, he emphasized that established verification processes remain in place, including rigorous field checks to validate each application. His statement underscored the administrative framework intended to prevent irregularities in voter registration.
Amid the growing political friction and concerns over the integrity of electoral rolls finalized at 7.4 crore, the Election Commission of India has ordered a probe into the mass deliveries. The investigation is expected to examine procedural compliance and assess the validity of the allegations, as the issue continues to fuel a high-stakes political confrontation in the state.
The unfolding developments carry significant implications for electoral transparency and public trust, placing the spotlight firmly on institutional safeguards and the credibility of the voter registration process in West Bengal.
